Job summary

MFA Oil Company seeks an Wholesale/Retail Accountant to reconcile fuel and freight invoices, support the payment process, and ensure GAAP compliance. You will participate in month‑end close, maintain ledgers, and support internal controls across APM operations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, proficiency with MS Office, and experience with automated accounting systems. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Process fuel invoicing and reconciliation daily.
• Draft customer accounts and provide past due reports for collections.
• Reconcile freight billing and maintain freight rate tables.
• Communicate with customers and APM staff to resolve issues.
• Participate in month-end fuel close and prepare adjusting entries.
• Validate daily credit card processes and resolve payment issues.
• Prepare account reconciliations by deadlines and research items.
• Maintain translation tables for automated data processes.
• Follow all MFA Oil policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Wholesale/Retail Accountant - APM reconciles fuel and freight invoices, works with customers and APM staff to maintain an accurate payment process and ensures the integrity of APM's general ledger and financial statements, performing month-end and year-end closing activities, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and good internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Process fuel invoicing and reconciliation daily


• Draft customer accounts and provide sales staff with past due reports for collection


• Reconcile freight billing and maintain freight rate tables


• Communicate effectively and timely with customers and APM personnel to resolve issues and provide requested information.


• Participate in month end fuel close process, reconciling accounts and preparing adjusting entries.


• Validate automated daily credit card processes; identify and resolve issues by working with APM personnel to ensure proper payment.


• Prepare assigned account reconciliations by required deadlines, research outstanding reconciling items


• Maintain translation tables that support automated data processes, including updates for new customers, products, and other required information.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

• Ability to meet Company requirements, including successful pre-employment background check and drug test.


• Legal authorization to work in the United States
