Job summary

Modivcare in Cumberland County, ME is seeking a Wheelchair Driver to transport passengers to medical facilities or home within a defined mileage radius of the operations center. This role emphasizes safe vehicle operation and excellent customer service.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, hours roughly 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST. Modivcare will provide a company vehicle, a gas card, and a smartphone stipend for this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Zero (0) or more years of experience accepted.
• Valid driver’s license for the appropriate vehicle type.
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
• Knowledge of navigating the local area to identify safest, most efficient routes.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely and follow traffic laws to protect passengers and self.
• Transport passengers to medical facilities and homes.
• Familiarize yourself with routes using maps or GPS to minimize delays.
• Inspect vehicle to ensure it's in good working order and maintain cleanliness.
• Complete daily trip sheets and report mechanical issues.

Modivcare is looking for a Wheelchair Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for transporting passengers to their destination as defined through a mileage radius from the operations center.

_ This role is located in Cumberland County, ME _

_ The schedule is Monday - Friday, hours can range from 4:00AM - 8:00PM EST _

This role…

• Operates vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers, other road users, and self.
• Transports passengers to and from medical facilities and/or home in a timely and safe manner.
• Familiarizes self with designated routes, utilized maps, or GPS systems to efficiently navigate to destinations while minimizing delays.
• Regularly inspects vehicle for maintenance needs and is in good working order; maintains a clean vehicle at all times.
• Completes mechanical checklist at the start of each shift and reports any mechanical problems to management.
• Completes and enters daily trip sheets for each transport.
• Ensures all required permits, licenses, and documentation are up-to-date and in order.
• Provides excellent customer service and maintain professionalism with all passengers.
• Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Complies to the expectations of organization contracts and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards for driving and vehicle safety.
• Attends Information Systems security trainings and reports information systems security problems.
• Participates in other projects or duties as assigned.

• Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations or accidents.
• In-depth knowledge of navigating the local area to utilize the safest and most efficient routes possible.
• Excellent driving skills and the ability to handle various road and weather conditions.
• Customer-service oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and schedules.
• Physical fitness and stamina for long hours of driving, if applicable.

Salary: $17/hr

Extended driving; frequent vehicle entry and exit; assisting passengers; operating wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement systems; pushing wheelchairs; occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 350 lbs.
