Job summary

AltaGas seeks a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to support water-related compliance efforts, project planning and permitting activities, and fieldwork. You will join a technical team responsible for regulatory tracking, data quality assurance, and internal consulting to support permitting.

Job description

Are you ready for a new opportunity? In this critical role as our Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist you will be part of a team that supports water-related compliance efforts and project planning and permitting activities. This role also includes participating in field activities.

You will:
  • support environmental compliance and project permitting activities
  • Serve as a member of our technical team that is responsible for water-related (wetlands, waterways, stormwater, etc.) regulatory tracking and reporting, data quality assurance
  • Serve as an internal environmental consultant to support project permitting.
  • Play a critical role in the Company's efforts to develop, implement, and enhance environmental compliance processes in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Drive process for continuous improvement.
You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or relative technical, or scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related environmental compliance work experience.
  • Experience in program management and program analytics with critical thinking skills.
  • Professional registration as an Engineer, Geologist, Project Management Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or Registered Environmental Manager, preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, relevant Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, regulatory analytical methods, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental regulations and regulatory engagement preferred. Experience with fieldwork (stormwater, wastewater, water sampling, wetlands, stormwater management, wetland and forest stand delineations), endangered species review, NEPA experience, monitoring, report writing and analysis, and regulatory negotiation.
  • General knowledge of natural gas industry operations and regulations preferred
