Job summary

AltaGas seeks a sales-focused professional to handle inquiries from customers, contractors, dealers, and employees about natural gas service conversions and related opportunities. You will explain products, programs, installation requirements, and costs.

You will conduct outbound calls to promote conversions and rebate programs, assist with applications, track projects, coordinate with internal teams and contractors, and maintain accurate records in OpenGrid360 and Salesforce.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries from customers, contractors, dealers, and employees about natural gas service availability for residential conversions and other opportunities.
  • Provide information on natural gas products, sales programs, equipment options, and sales processes.
  • Explain contractor responsibilities related to gas service and meter installations.
  • Make outbound calls to promote natural gas conversions, products, services, and rebates.
  • Assist customers with gas service applications, installation requirements, and costs.
  • Act as customer advocate, tracking projects and resolving concerns for a positive experience.
  • Monitor project progress and coordinate follow-up with teams, contractors, and customers.
  • Create and maintain new business projects in OpenGrid360 and Salesforce for estimates and installations.
  • Review project documentation for accuracy and compliance to prevent delays.
  • Generate and review reports to prioritize workload and timelines.
  • Discuss and recommend installation solutions based on customer needs and company guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, products, tariffs, and regulations.
  • Research and respond to inquiries using company records and systems.
  • Resolve customer concerns while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Document customer interactions in company databases to support reporting and operations.
  • Use strong communication to reduce callbacks and delays in sales processes.
  • Support shift work as required.

Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesRespond to inquiries from customers, contractors, dealers, and employees regarding the availability of natural gas service for residential conversions, light commercial projects, and other assigned opportunities.Provide information on natural gas products, sales programs, equipment options, sales requirements, and sales processes.Explain the responsibilities of plumbing, HVAC, and underground contractors related to gas service and meter installations.Conduct outbound calls to prospective and existing customers to promote and facilitate natural gas conversions, products, services, and rebate programs.Assist customers with gas service applications, installation requirements, equipment options, and associated costs.Act as a customer advocate throughout the new business process by proactively tracking projects, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive customer experience.Monitor project progress and coordinate follow-up activities with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure timely processing of applications and installation of facilities.Create and maintain new business projects using systems such as OpenGrid360 and Salesforce to support cost estimates, infrastructure installations, and customer account management.Review project documentation, site plans, and related materials for accuracy and completeness to prevent delays and ensure compliance with requirements.Generate and review reports to prioritize workload and maintain project timelines.Work independently to discuss and recommend appropriate gas service installation solutions based on customer needs and company guidelines.Maintain a current knowledge of company policies, procedures, products, services, tariffs, and jurisdictional regulations.Accurately research and respond to customer inquiries using company records and computer-based systems.Resolve customer concerns related to natural gas conversions, products, and services while maintaining positive business relationships.Document customer interactions and enter information into company databases to support reporting and operational requirements.Utilize strong communication and information-gathering skills to ensure accuracy, reduce callbacks, and minimize delays in the sales process.Support shift work requirements as needed.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceCandidates must meet one of the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and a minimum of one (1) year of inside or outside sales experience; ORAssociate degree in Business Administration or a related field and three (3) years of inside or outside sales experience; ORHigh school diploma or GED and five (5) years of inside or outside sales experience; OREquivalent experience in telephone sales or high-volume, product-focused customer service centric environment may be considered in place of sales experienceRequired QualificationsSuccessful completion of a Writing Skills Evaluation Assessment.Demonstrated sales and customer service skills with the ability to support company growth and customer satisfaction objectives.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to accurately gather, interpret, and document customer information.Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment when working within established guidelines and procedures.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsBasic knowledge of natural gas equipment installation and operation.Familiarity with OpenGrid360, SAP, Salesforce, ESRI Polaris, or similar utility systems.Knowledge of plumbing and natural gas OM codes and regulations.Understanding of natural gas and electrical appliance operation, gas line installation practices, and related industry standards.Additional RequirementsAbility to work shifts as required.Union: YesBargaining Unit/Local: Office and Professional Employees International Union- Local No. 2Rate Classification: Grade 6A- $30.84 per hour, per the Collective Bargaining AgreementNumber of Positions Available: 1Please note that current union members will receive priority on these vacancies, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Why work at AltaGas?AltaGas is a North American energy infrastructure company with a focus on owning and operating assets that provide clean and affordable energy to our customers.
