Job summary

AltaGas is seeking a Transmission Engineer to design and support gas transmission projects, with levels I–IV based on experience. You will oversee route analysis, pipeline design, budgeting, permitting, material management, and construction support within the Engineering group.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage transmission and high pressure pipeline projects of small to moderate scope, including route analysis, design, cost estimating, permitting, material acquisition, specs, and construction support.
• Manage budget and provide cost/schedule forecasts; develop annual capital budgets; provide weekly MOS reports.
• Provide civil engineering design for the Engineering group and GT Unit.
• Provide engineering support for operating, maintenance, and special projects.
• Develop or update O&M procedures and design/construction standards.
• Support large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects.
• Analyze complex loading on pipelines and support civil/structural projects within facilities.

WGL - Gas Transmission Engineer (Level I, II, III or IV)

Washington Gas has an immediate need for a Transmission Engineer to provide design and engineering support for the Engineering group and Gas Transportation. Civil Engineering is highly preferred. Washington Gas will hire at Level I, II, III or IV depending on the candidate's experience.

You Will

• Manage transmission and high pressure large-diameter distribution pipeline projects of small to moderate scope including route analysis and selection, pipeline design, project cost estimating, coordinating easement acquisition and permitting, material identification & acquisition, construction specifications, assistance with contractor bid and selection process, construction management support, restoration and documentation activities.
• Manage budget and provide cost/schedule forecasts for projects mentioned above. Assist with the development and justification of annual capital budget items. Provide weekly MOS reports.
• Provide civil engineering design function for the entire Corporate Engineering and GT Unit.
• Provide overall engineering support for operating and maintenance and special projects.
• Provide engineering assistance for the development of new or updating of existing O&M procedures as well as Design & Construction standards.
• Provide project support for or manage large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects.
• Provide analysis of complex loading scenarios on existing transmission and high pressure distribution pipelines.
• Provide support for or manage civil/structural projects within WGL process facilities.

You Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical or Civil
• A general knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting purposes.

Engineer Level I

• Internship or previous relevant experience a plus.
• "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.

Engineer Level II

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required.
• "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred.
• "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification preferred.

Engineer Level III

• 3+ Years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required, or
• "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification required
• Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred, or
• GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is preferred

Engineer Level IV

• 5+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required, or
• GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is required
• Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred

We offer a competitive salary range of $66,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
