Position Summary:

The Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access & fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and executing patient access field reimbursement strategies. The role focuses on enabling healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers with information, tools, and resources to start and stay on therapy, while ensuring compliant communication across internal teams.

The Director will mentor, develop, and lead a diverse team skilled in nephrology, healthcare marketplace, and access & fulfillment, impacting patient therapy initiation and continuation.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Hiring, mentoring, developing, and leading a field access & reimbursement team responsible for local access & fulfillment activities.
  2. Ensuring healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers are equipped with necessary information and resources.
  3. Utilizing KPIs & analytics to optimize field execution.
  4. Developing strategic plans and managing team execution in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Creating team culture, motivating performance, building customer relationships, and achieving goals.
  6. Managing performance, providing coaching, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  7. Training team members on technical aspects of coverage and payer coverage changes.
  8. Developing regional business plans to optimize patient experience and pull-through metrics.
  9. Maintaining expertise in access & reimbursement and providing training to the team.
  10. Facilitating cross-functional collaboration and communication with sales and leadership.
  11. Supporting field activities through field visits and virtual calls for development and coaching.
  12. Building relationships with key accounts to support onboarding processes.
  13. Analyzing regional performance and addressing capability gaps.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in pharma/biotech, with experience in nephrology, rare disease, REMS preferred.
  • 5+ years in specialty medicines with a focus on access & reimbursement.
  • 3+ years as a field reimbursement manager and as a team leader.

Additional Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in training, access marketing, operations, payer projects.
  • Knowledge of new-to-market medication access complexities and specialty pharmacy products.
  • Ability to build relationships with HCPs, office staff, sales, and hubs.
  • Understanding of insurance reimbursement, Medicare, VA, and education on reimbursement processes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and virtual issue resolution.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing performance, projects, timelines, and budgets.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes and travel up to 50% within the region.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
