Job summary

The Misch Group is seeking a compassionate Wellness Veterinarian to join a mission-led community animal welfare organization in the Wilmington area of Delaware. This full-time, on-site role focuses on accessible wellness care for dogs and cats, with flexible hours and no routine on-call obligations.

You will work with a supportive team to deliver preventative care, client education, and low-cost services in a fast-paced, walk-in setting, emphasizing compassionate medicine over production

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD degree with Delaware licensure or eligibility.
• Approximately 2+ years of companion-animal clinical experience.
• Ability to provide independent wellness care for dogs and cats.
• Comfort with a walk-in, community-care setting and clear client communication.
• Strong clinical documentation and technology skills.
• Commitment to accessible veterinary care for families facing financial constraints.
• Spanish fluency.
• Experience in shelter, nonprofit, or low-cost care settings.
• Familiarity with shelter-management or veterinary records systems.
• Occasional weekend coverage may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide wellness care for dogs and cats.
• Support community preventive care and low-cost services.
• Participate in a walk-in wellness program.
• Perform examinations, preventive care, client education, and documentation.
• Use sound clinical judgment in urgent situations and provide basic surgical support.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, care staff, and mission-driven team.
• Help clients access care and reduce financial barriers.
