Job summary

A leading nonprofit organization in Casper, WY seeks a Wellness Floor Attendant to support members in achieving health and wellness goals. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment use, maintaining cleanliness, and fostering an inclusive environment. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and previous experience with diverse populations. CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Completion of YMCA Principles of Member Health and Wellness online course within 30 days of hire date.
  • General knowledge of exercise and weight training, including basic anatomy, physiology, and exercise principles.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to enforce rules and speak in public.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail required.

Description

POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through Social Responsibility, Youth Development, and Healthy Living. The Wellness Floor Attendants interact with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and wellness goals, create a welcoming environment for members of all backgrounds and abilities, and to help individuals become their personal best. Strong communication, listening and organizational skills are required.

Available Shifts:

-Monday-Friday 6:00am-10:00 am

-Monday-Friday 2:00pm-5:00pm

-Monday-Friday 5:00pm-9:00pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members, helping members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Support members and help them navigate proper equipment use.
  • Introduces new members to group exercise communities based on their health and well-being goals.
  • Refer members to register for their Get Started appointment with a personal trainer to support their healthy living goals.
  • Utilizes tools and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of wellness as well as wellness programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, schedules, etc.).
  • Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Actively participants in department and branch staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CANDIDATES:

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Wellness Center environment must be able to stand for extended periods of time, walk, and bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull and move, lift and/ or carry up to 45 pounds repeatedly, at or above waist height.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions required.

KEY FOCUS AREAS:

  • Greet and assist members in use of all strength/conditioning and cardio equipment.
  • Instruct members on proper use of fitness equipment schedule and member orientations, classes or personal fitness programs.
  • Ensure the safety of all members using the Wellness Center by consistently enforcing the Wellness Center policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the Wellness Center, including equipment.
  • Support and follow YMCA policies and decisions.
  • Answer member questions about the YMCA and its programs.
  • Assist Membership Representatives in demonstrating use of fitness equipment to potential members.
  • Attend staff meetings.
