Job summary

Benedictine Health System is seeking a Wellness Director to oversee the wellness program for residents, coordinating exercise and leisure activities and maintaining ongoing community engagement.

The role requires directing staff, ensuring care plans and assessments are implemented, and managing department budgets to sustain program viability. This full-time position is based in Minnesota with potential collaboration across campuses.

Qualifications

• The activities program must be directed by a qualified professional as per federal regulations §483.15(f)(2).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record per Benedictine requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the wellness program and activities for residents.
• Manage staff selection, training, and performance within the department.
• Ensure budgets are developed, managed, and kept financially viable.

Overview

The Wellness Director is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the wellness program and meeting the social and wellness needs of the residents through planned wellness activities, exercise programming, leisure activities, and continued interaction with community groups.

Responsibilities

Manages the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff. Ensures financial viability of department, including the development, management, and accountability of budgets. Ensure departmental completion and implementation of the care plan and assessment process for all residents.

Qualifications Required

• Must meet qualifications as required by federal regulations §483.15(f)(2) The activities program must be directed by a qualified professional who--
  • Is a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who--
    • Is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the State in which practicing; and
    • Is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or
    • Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, 1 of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or
    • Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
    • Has completed a training course approved by the State.
• Valid Driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle assigned to operate
• Acceptable driving record that meets Benedictine requirements

Qualifications Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Physiology
• Experience in long term care
• Manager experience
• Experience coordinating volunteer programs
• BLS Certification.
