Job summary

The YMCA of South Palm Beach in Boynton Beach, FL seeks an enthusiastic Wellness Attendant to monitor and instruct members on exercise equipment and support a premier member experience. Under the Health & Wellness Director, you will model YMCA values, maintain a clean facility, assist with wellness evaluations, and ensure safety and courtesy on the fitness floor.

CPR/AED certification is required; you will promote programs, participate in events, and help maintain a welcoming environment for all

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
• Provide courteous, prompt and sincere attention to members and staff.
• Maintain appropriate relationships with members and staff.
• Communicate and enforce policies and guidelines for the equipment area.
• Conduct wellness evaluations and program recommendations for new members.
• Assist in delivering services to members to ensure excellence.
• Create a welcoming environment and motivate members to engage with the Y.
• Maintain wellness center floor equipment maintenance, repair, and cleanliness.
• Ensure staff and self-cleanliness and uphold facility policies.
• Cover the floor during assigned shifts and engage with members on fitness goals.
• Document accidents/injuries/incidents and record daily use statistics.
• Assist Wellness Director with projects, health promotions, and YMCA programs.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Health & Wellness Director/Wellness Coordinator and in harmony with the Christian values and purpose of this Association and in accordance with the policies of the Association, the incumbent will be directly responsible and accountable for the monitoring and instruction of members on exercise equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• MODEL THE YMCA CORE VALUES: CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY
• PROVIDE COURTEOUS, PROMPT AND SINCERE ATTENTION TO MEMBERS AND STAFF
• MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH MEMBERS AND OTHER STAFF
• COMMUNICATE AND ENFORCE POLICIES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE EQUIPMENTAREA
• CONDUCT WELLNESS EVALUATION AND PROGRAM RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS
• Participate in delivery of services to members to ensure excellence.
• Create a positive environment where everyone feels welcome, and encourage and motivate others to become more involved in the Y.
• Responsible for wellness center floor equipment maintenance, repair, and cleanliness
• He or she emphasizes customer service, facility cleanliness, dress code, abiding by and enforcing all facility policy and procedures, and upholding the highest standards of performance to promote the Y’s culture of honesty, professionalism and genuine concern.
• Aggressively covers the floor during assigned shift.
• Consistently approach members while exercising, review and update their fitness goals to ensure they are making improvements in their fitness routine.
• Ensures that all staff actively (including self) cleans fitness room
• Document any accidents/injuries/incidents
• Record daily use statistics
• Assist Wellness Director, and coordinators with all projects, health promotions, and YMCA national or branch programs, and all annual campaign promotions.
• Work closely with Wellness Director to provide a premier member experience
• Offer creative ideas and changes to the Wellness Director to constantly monitor and improve the YMCA Wellness program
• Attend all required training and meetings; keep all certifications current
• Volunteer time is required for special events to include the YMCA
• (Healthy Kids Day, Annual Campaign events, etc.)

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• CPR/AED certification and other specific training that may be required from time to time at the discretion senior management.
• Must demonstrate a personal commitment to the mission of the YMCA.
• Must set the example for others to follow.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) are essential, along with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people as part of a team.
• Ability to work with older adults
• Ability to provide excellent customer service
• This position requires good organizational skills, strong human relation skills, ability to adapt to a changing environment, and knowledge of the YMCA operational procedures and programs.
• Must be able to promote the programs and services of the YMCA, a working knowledge of operating computers, and exhibit good health habits.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with members, staff, and volunteers is essential
