Job summary

VIP Petcare is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to lead the Wellness Center team within our host store network in Mesa, AZ. You will manage staff, coordinate with the on-site veterinarian, and ensure adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.

You will oversee inventory, payroll entries, client education, and daily operations while delivering high-quality preventive care services to pets and fostering positive relationships with pet parents and store partners.

Provides convenient and affordable pet health and wellness products and veterinary services to pets and their families through retail and ecommerce channels across the country. This position reports into the VIP Petcare team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
  • Is comfortable in high stress situations.
  • Has experience participating in treating adverse vaccine reactions to include (but not limited to) angioedema, urticaria, and anaphylaxis.
  • Can initiate treatment to manage an adverse event (allergic reaction) while receiving treatment protocol guidance from off-site veterinarian.
  • Is familiar with intubation and administrating lifesaving CPR to pets.
  • Is competent in phlebotomy and administration of subcutaneous injections. Has expertise in safe restraint of pets for wellness procedures including vaccines, nail trims and microchipping.
  • Contributes to the professional development of veterinary clinic assistants, monitors in-clinic processes, and adheres/executes Pet IQ procedures.
  • Has excellent communication skills exemplified through each pet parent interaction.
  • Can collect and prepare blood and fecal samples for laboratory testing.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment by disinfecting surfaces and equipment between each pet per Pet IQ guidelines.
  • Makes expert recommendations for preventative care services and products to every pet, every time based on pet’s lifestyle and an understanding of canine and feline diseases.
  • Promotes a culture of safety in the clinic and lives our values while reinforcing our brand promise with pet parents, partners, and team members.
  • Prepares canine and feline vaccines using sterile technique.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with pet parents and host store partners perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for Wellness Center staff and clinic execution and ensures that all protocol/procedures and processes are followed
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to Wellness Center staff
  • Lead the Wellness Center team to achieve results and meet goals
  • Resolve staff issues, document and follow up as needed
  • Submit and deliver performance reviews to Wellness Center staff
  • Enter/verify employee time cards in ADP and submit payroll
  • Schedule staff in Apollo and find replacements when needed due to call-offs
  • Build and nurture relationships with host location management and staff
  • Assist in assessing pet lifestyle to determine which preventatives and vaccines are best suited
  • Make recommendations to clients about vaccines, tests, products and microchips that are consistent with both company’s protocols and on-site Veterinarian preferences
  • Responsible for all Wellness Center equipment and ensuring that product and equipment are being handled appropriately and are secured
  • Responsible for inventory and ensuring supplies are appropriately stocked
  • Responsible for performing inventory counts and submitting orders
  • Update POS materials and order replacements as needed
  • Manage administrative duties to include daily paperwork, and end of the day reconciliation
  • Answer client inquiries on the phone and in the store
  • Administer treatment under the Veterinarians supervision
  • Complete Health Certificates
  • Fill out prescriptions
  • Scan all pets for microchips
  • Clean up after pets including drool, urine, feces, and vomit
  • Ensure all clinical stations are operating appropriately
  • Ability to live our values and reinforce our brand promise with our partners, clients and team members
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Experience: Experience in a leadership/management role managing 3 or more team members required.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Professional Certifications: Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required

Working Conditions
