Job summary

The Bronx Wellness Center Director at StartCare, Inc. will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure high-quality, person-centered programming, and foster a welcoming environment aligned with trauma-informed and healing justice principles across all Center activities.

Qualifications

• LCSW or licensed psychologist in good standing.
• Minimum 4 years in a supervisory/leadership role in behavioral health or related field.
• Minimum 2 years with serious mental illness or substance use disorders.
• Experience building community partnerships with hospitals, shelters, courts, or similar agencies.
• Experience engaging community members beyond program settings and with regulatory agencies (NY OMH/ NYC DOHMH).
• Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day center operations, staffing, scheduling, and programming fidelity.
• Serve as liaison with OMH and the Community Advisory Board and report updates.
• Recruit, supervise, and develop a multidisciplinary Center team.
• Coordinate programming across domains with partner teams and ensure cultural responsiveness.
• Lead case conferences, staff meetings, and maintain licensure credentials for staff.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations and external resources.
• Support funding efforts, grants, and donor engagement as needed.
• Represent the Center in community settings and expand outreach in the Bronx and NYC.
• Travel within the Bronx and greater NYC for engagement and partnership activities.
