Job summary

YMCA is seeking an on-site Member Services/ Wellness Assistant in Boulder to welcome members and guide them toward programs and schedules. You will help with goal-setting, orient new members to equipment and classes, and ensure a clean and safe facility in line with CDC guidelines.

You will respond to emergencies, maintain accurate records, and support staff across departments. Certification requirements include CPR/First Aid and preferred fitness credentials, with structured progression

Qualifications

  • CPR, First Aid, AED and BBP certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • 16+ years of age required.
  • Nationally accredited Personal Training and/or group exercise certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and onboard members, helping them connect with programs and schedules.
  • Instruct and supervise safe equipment use and basic programs.
  • Answer member questions and assist with goal-setting and class information.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility in alignment with CDC guidelines.
  • Report issues and emergencies per YMCA policies and procedures.

Job description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides a safe and welcoming environment for members. Helps to develop a sense of community in the fitness center and around the Y. Answers member and participant questions, assists members with goal-setting, provides equipment orientations and basic programs, helps members become acquainted with class schedules and other areas of interest within the Y (including, but not limited to the pool, child watch, social clubs, etc.). Cleans, disinfects and cares for equipment and facilities. Responds to any emergency that may occur in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Maintains professionalism; follows dress code, comes to the Y on time and prepared.• Participates actively in member onboarding process as assigned.• Keeps accurate and timely records as requested by supervisor (e.g., timesheets and member onboarding paperwork). Maintains all certifications and keeps up with Training Home assignments.• Monitors and instructs members on the safe and effective use of equipment.• Works only within scope of qualifications and maintains confidentiality of member information at all times.• Connects members to one another and to other opportunities within the Y and to the Y as an organization. Demonstrates high-level interactions with staff from all departments.• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of various YMCA programs; provides effective information and support to members. Uses “Listen First”, and other relationship building skills.• Communicates any problems, concerns or “mission moments” with supervisor. Follows-up on communication as needed to ensure resolution. Asks questions for clarification. Reads weekly updates.• Monitors facility, keeps supplies/equipment organized, cares for equipment.
