Introductory Employment Period

About The Role

The Wellfield Technician is responsible for the overall safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas wellfield.

Key Accountabilities
  • Operate the wellfield during assigned shifts in compliance with the Title V Operating Permit, SOPs, and safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain daily logs and obtain readings according to prescribed standards.
  • Adhere to plant and landfill safety policies, use required protective equipment, and perform duties safely.
  • Maintain a clean workspace (plant building, control room, restroom, break room, grounds).
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Perform landfill tuning duties by recording and storing data.
  • Adjust and tune the wellfield to maximize gas quantity and quality.
  • Maintain wellfield database and associated logs to meet regulatory and corporate compliance.
  • Document wellhead readings, coordinate corrective actions, and verify compliance.
  • Observe safety and environmental regulations during tasks.
  • Assist supervisory staff with operational planning of construction projects and gas collection field expansions.
  • Ensure project compliance with government rules, the Title V Permit, and NSPS guidelines.
  • Respond to callouts promptly and work overtime as required.
  • Maintain the facility all‑terrain vehicle.
  • Ensure analytical equipment calibrations and record‑keeping are current.
  • Acquire knowledge of all gas collection equipment.
  • Perform analytical tests and document results, e.g., calibrating data collection and gas analysis instruments.
Essential Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Essential Experience
  • Intermediate electrical, chemical, and mechanical experience.
  • Previous landfill gas operation experience a plus; 1–3 years in landfill gas processing, chemical plant operations, industrial gas operations, or power plant operations.
  • Understanding of process control systems applied to landfill gas collection and processing.
  • Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping, and instrumentation drawings.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow established procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with all units of measures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective verbal communication with employees.
  • Problem‑solving skills for practical scenarios.
  • Proficient with computers (MS Word, Excel, email systems).
  • Ability to work outdoors year‑round in rugged terrain.
  • Valid driver’s license, background check, physical, hearing, and DOT drug test required.
Desirable Criteria
  • 3+ years of experience in landfill gas processing or power plant operations.
  • Technical certification or training.
Compensation and Benefits

Base pay: $25 – $26 per hour.

Paid vacation (full‑time): 120–240 hours per year; part‑time: 60–240 hours per year. 9 paid holidays and 2 personal choice holidays. Parental leave up to 8 weeks paid.
