Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks an experienced Welding Machine Repair - Electrical professional to troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and operate advanced electronic welding equipment and robotic/plasma systems for nuclear-powered submarine construction.

You will collaborate with design teams to discuss technical problems and propose circuit changes to improve system performance. Expect work in confined spaces, at heights, and with heavy lifting as part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED OR have 2+ years of related technical experience.
  • Must have 1-5 years of electrical experience, electrical maintenance experience, military, or manufacturing experience.
  • Preferred: completion of specialized school in electronic field beyond high school or 3 years in electrical field.

Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Welding Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.

The Welding Machine Repair - Electrical candidate will troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and operate various complex electronic welding equipment and Robotic welding and Plasma systems. Will discuss technical problems with Design to make suggestions and necessary circuit changes to enhance system operation. Work conditions may include confined spaces, heights/JLG and heavy lifting.

  • Familiar with line voltages e, 120 volt, 240 volt and 480 volt systems
  • Must be able to use test equipment multimeters
  • Must have the ability to distinguish between colors for the purpose of performing the job
