Job summary

Standard Iron is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Production Welding Lead to provide day-to-day leadership for welding staff, ensuring schedules, quality, safety, and customer specs are met. You will troubleshoot, train, and drive continuous improvement while promoting a safe, efficient team environment.

The role emphasizes leading by example, owning safety practices, and coordinating with supervisors and quality to resolve issues and improve production flow.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading welding teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Skilled in MIG/MAG welding processes and applications.
  • Strong safety and quality focus in production environments.
  • Ability to train and mentor welding staff.

We are seeking a dependable, experienced Manufacturing Production Welding Lead to join our production team. In this role, you will provide day-to-day leadership and support to welding employees while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications are met. The Welding Lead will work alongside the team, helping troubleshoot welding issues, support training and cross-training, monitor production, and promote a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates effectively, holds team members accountable, and is committed to continuous improvement.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Range: $26.00-31.00/hour (Starting rate commensurate with experience)
$1,500 Hiring Bonus paid over your first year of employment

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to production welding employees.
  • Lead by example by following all safety, quality, productivity, and attendance expectations.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Set up and operate MIG/MAG welding equipment and assist employees with welding processes and applications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Inspect welds and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot welding, fit-up, equipment, and process issues.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and cross-training of welding employees.
  • Provide coaching and direction to employees to improve performance, quality, and productivity.
  • Help ensure proper welding procedures, techniques, and work instructions are followed.
  • Work with supervisors, quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Monitor material usage, production flow, and work center efficiency.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, waste reduction, and improved production processes.
  • Help maintain welding equipment, tools, fixtures, and work areas in safe and efficient working condition.
  • Communicate production issues, staffing concerns, quality problems, and other relevant information to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • Previous lead, trainer, or informal leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and production documentation.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, equipment, materials, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common welding and fabrication problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, quality personnel, and other departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to prioritize work and help keep production on schedule.
  • Ability to lift, move, and position parts as required. (60 lbs.)
  • Ability and willingness to train and assist other employees.
