Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up, inspect welds, and keep logs while the supervisor makes accept/reject decisions.

The role offers a path toward CWI certification with company sponsorship for the exam and related training. Weekly work aligns with erector schedules, including early starts and possible overtime on industrial projects.

Qualifications

• CAWI eligibility or welding inspection experience.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents.
• Physically able to work at height and in confined spaces on active sites.
• Careful, consistent, and honest about weld quality.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under CWI supervision to AWS D1.1/D1.5 or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate UT/MT/PT NDT with the NDT technician and record results.
