Job summary

A Renewable Energy Manufacturing Company is seeking a Welding Inspector to oversee quality assurance throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ASME, AWS, or ISO quality requirements.

Job description

Welding Inspector
Base pay range

$30.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will support quality assurance throughout the entire manufacturing lifecycle, including:

Incoming Material Inspection

  • Perform visual checks for defects, markings, surface finish, rust, and handling damage
  • Verify dimensional accuracy (width, thickness, tolerances) using calipers and micrometers
  • Review mechanical and chemical test data (tensile strength, elongation, composition)
  • Confirm compliance to client‑approved drawings, specifications, and material test certificates

In‑Process Inspection

  • Conduct weld inspections including:
  • Visual examinations
  • Dye Penetrant (DP) testing
  • Weld bead radius measurement
  • Verification of orientation, alignment, size, and straightness
  • Confirm marking, batch coding, and color coding per specifications
  • Validate dimensional accuracy using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Review welder qualifications (WPS/PQR/WPQ) and ensure adherence to ASME Sec V & IX
  • Maintain accuracy of calibrated tools and verification records

Final Inspection

  • Conduct pre‑dispatch surface and dimensional checks
  • Verify coating thickness, adhesion, and overall finish quality
  • Ensure correct bundling, packing, marking, and documentation
  • Approve items for release according to approved SOPs, drawings, and inspection criteria
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Experience as a Welding Inspector, QA/QC Technician, or Fabrication Inspector
  • Familiarity with DP Testing, visual weld inspection, and gauge measurement
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, SOPs, and inspection standards
  • Knowledge of ASME, AWS, or ISO quality requirements
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to complete inspection reports accurately
  • Experience working in manufacturing, fabrication, metals, or renewable‑energy environments is highly preferred
