Job summary

MPI/Carver, Inc. in Wabash, IN is seeking a skilled welder to perform standard structural welding, set and adjust welding machines, and read drawings to fabricate frames and assemblies.

You will prepare materials, align pieces, apply multiple passes, grind and inspect welds, and work from bills of material; hours may shift during peak months.

Qualifications

• Requires general knowledge of Mig, Arc and Flux Cored welding techniques and procedures generally working with standard materials not requiring certified welding.
• A minimum of two years' experience required.
• Must have ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Must be able to operate a variety of hand operated power tools

Responsibilities

• Perform standard structural welding to produce frames, bases, structural assemblies, sections and parts in accordance with recognized welding procedures.
• Set and adjust welding machine.
• Select and cut materials to size using power saw, torch, etc. as indicated by drawing or bill of materials.
• Set up work pieces to avoid distortion and clamp or position pieces to maintain dimensional accuracy. May use holding fixtures where available.
• Select rod and make necessary number of passes to ensure structural strength.
• May grind, fit and align units and parts to fit. Clean and check weld.
• Work from drawings, blueprints, job instructions, bills of material. Use rule, scale, square gauges and other tools as necessary.
• Shift and hours subject to change during peak months (must be flexible)
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned.
