Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facilities and equipment and complete paperwork.
  • Comply with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel may be required and shift work may be needed.

Job description

What We Are Looking For

The Welder is responsible for welding tasks associated with fabricating vessels, amine treating, glycol dehydration, and natural gas stabilization skid-mounted equipment and piping to conform with specifications and certification requirements.

What You Will Do
Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Works in a safe and conscientious manner to ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow crew members
  • Cuts and/or joins metal parts in order to fabricate pipe, vessels, and structural skids and other equipment using tools such as plasma cutter, submerged arc welding, MIG welder, TIG welder, and oxyacetylene welding
  • Layout, cut, fit and otherwise prepares material for welding
  • Fabricate material from piping schematics and other drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches or verbal instructions to determine welding requirements
  • Candidate will set up components for welding according to specifications, and prepare product and parts to be welded (e.g. cut, grind, etc.)
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements
  • Identify report and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • This will be a "single hand" position
  • All equipment will be company furnished
What You Need
Position Requirements:
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Experience / specific knowledge:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of working knowledge and experience as a welder
  • Knowledge of basic properties of metals
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements
  • Achieve and maintain all qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification
  • Maintain individual welding qualification and certifications per requirements
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
  • Submerged arc welding experience
  • Vessel layout experience
  • SMAW welding experience
  • GTAW welding experience
  • Plasma table, C&C, light wall and heavy wall experience
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
  • Job planning and organization skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches and other diagrams
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Be customer focused
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself
Physical demands:
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
Must be able to frequently:
  • Enter confined spaces
  • Climb to and work from elevated platforms, climb vertical access ladders, stairwells and walkways
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
Working conditions:
  • May be required to carry a company-provided communication device and be available to respond during working and non-working hours
  • Depending on location and workload, travel may be required
  • Must be available for shift work when applicable
