Job summary

Voith Hydro US in York, PA is seeking a Welder Trainee to join the North American Hydro division, welding various thicknesses and grades of steel on one-off components for large hydroelectric machines.

The trainee program prepares for a Grinder Specialist position; ASME welder qualifications are required and a strong aptitude to learn is valued. This is a full-time role with a starting pay rate of $27.08/hour and a shift differential offered.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Required: Gas Metal Arc Welding; Flux Cored Arc Welding.
• Preferred: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding; Submerged Arc Welding; Electro Slag Welding.

Responsibilities

• Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick) 2G on SST & CS.
• Arcing, back gouging & NDE of back gouge.
• Grinding, cleaning and protecting parts before leaving production area.
• Simple fabrication assembly of components.
• Perform 15 ton or less straight crane lifts.

We are seeking a Welder Trainee to support our North American Hydro division in York, PA. In the position you will work on unique one-off components for some of the largest hydroelectric machines in the world welding various thicknesses and grades of steel. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude to learn and be able to pass ASME welder qualifications. Position is part of a trainee program designed prepare the employee for a Grinder Specialist position.

Responsibilities

• Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick) 2G both SST & CS.
• Additional Welding Qualifications as determined by Management.
• Arcing, back gouging & NDE of back gouge.
• Grinding, clean and protect parts before leaving production area.
• Simple fabrication assembly of components.
• Perform 15 ton or less straight crane lifts.

Physical requirements

• Occasional bending and twisting
• Able to lift 50lbs on occasion.
• Able to work at heights up to 20 feet.
