Job summary

Workplace Modular Systems in Londonderry, NH is seeking a skilled Welder / Spot Welder to join our Fabrication department. This role centers on TIG welding as the primary process, with resistance/spot welding utilized as needed to meet drawings and weld symbols.

You will produce high-quality welded assemblies on steel products, read work orders, set up parts, and perform tube processing on a CNC cold saw. A strong eye for detail and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical welding training preferred.

Responsibilities

• TIG Welding: Perform TIG welding as the primary process to join steel components to drawing specifications; set up, fit, and tack parts; monitor warping and distortion; self-inspect welds.
• Spot Welding: Operate resistance/spot welding equipment on components per drawing; set up parts using jigs, clamps, fixtures; maintain weld quality.
• Steel Tube Processing: Cut and process steel tubing to length and spec using a CNC cold saw.
• Part Preparation: Prepare, assemble, and tack-weld parts; use tools and fixtures to ensure proper fit before welding.
• Grinding & Finishing: Grind, cut, and clean parts to specification.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read work orders, drawings, and weld symbols; reference eDrawings-based instructions.
• Quality & Inspection: Inspect welds and parts for dimensional accuracy; report defects.
• Equipment & Housekeeping: Maintain equipment; keep area 5S-compliant.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Welder / Spot Welder to join our Fabrication department. This role is centered on TIG welding as the primary process, with resistance/spot welding utilized as needed for specific part requirements. You will produce high-quality welded assemblies on a variety of steel products, working from drawings, work orders, and weld symbols to set up, fit, and weld parts to spec. The role also includes cutting and processing steel tubing on a CNC cold saw.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• TIG Welding: Perform TIG welding as the primary welding process to join steel components and assemblies to drawing specifications; set up, fit, and tack parts; monitor for warping and distortion; and self-inspect finished welds for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Spot Welding: Operate resistance/spot welding equipment on components where the process is specified per drawing; set up parts using jigs, clamps, and fixtures; maintain consistent weld quality and inspect fusion results.
• Steel Tube Processing: Cut and process steel tubing to length and specification using a CNC cold saw; ensure accurate setup, clean cuts, and proper handling of finished tube stock.
• Part Preparation: Prepare, assemble, and tack-weld parts and surfaces prior to welding; use hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures to ensure proper fit-up before welding begins.
• Grinding & Finishing: Perform grinding, cutting, and cleaning operations as required to prepare and finish parts to specification.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret work orders, part drawings, and weld symbols accurately; reference eDrawings-based work instructions to confirm part requirements.
• Quality & Inspection: Inspect completed welds and finished parts for dimensional accuracy and weld quality; identify and report defects or non-conformances before parts advance downstream.
• Equipment & Housekeeping: Maintain welding equipment in proper working order; keep work area clean, organized, and 5S-compliant; notify supervision of any equipment faults or material issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed in WMS's Londonderry, NH manufacturing facility. The following physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

• Regularly required to stand and walk throughout the shift; use hands to handle, feel, and manipulate parts and tooling; reach, bend, stoop, and crouch as required by the work.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs., with team-lift protocols in place for heavier components.
• Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus - essential for weld inspection and part verification.
• Exposure to loud noise levels from fabrication equipment - hearing protection required and provided.
• Regular exposure to welding arc and UV light, metal fumes and airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts - appropriate PPE required and provided.
• PPE required includes safety glasses, welding helmet, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, and gloves appropriate to the task. All required PPE is provided.
