Job summary

Chart Industries is seeking an experienced Welder-Pipefitter to join our Repairs team in New Prague, Minnesota. You will play a critical role in repairing and replumbing cryogenic vessels and pressure-containing equipment, following ASME, DOT, AAR, and EN codes.

You will read blueprints, weld in multiple positions, and help maintain production records while collaborating with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Welding Training Program preferred.
• Experience with vessel repair, pipefitting, fabrication, or related welding work.
• Proficiency in GTAW and GMAW welding processes.
• Ability to weld in multiple positions.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of welding best practices and quality standards.
• Experience performing visual weld inspections.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with web-based systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Replumb, repair, and weld vessels using established manufacturing processes.
• Perform GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding in various positions.
• Complete welding, fitting, grinding, and finishing operations on repaired units.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and aerial lifts safely and effectively.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld procedures, and welding symbols.
• Maintain production records, material traceability documentation, and production travelers.
• Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced welders as needed.
• Complete required training and certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Our team manufactures and rehabilitates high‑quality products while adhering to ASME, DOT, AAR, and EN pressure vessel codes.

What Will You Do?

• Replumb, repair, and weld vessels using established manufacturing processes
• Perform GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding in various positions

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and stooping
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials
• Occasional climbing and work at elevated heights
• Repetitive hand movements and prolonged use of welding equipment
• Exposure to a manufacturing environment, including heat, noise, welding fumes, and moving equipment
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Your Compensation Will Be...

• Pay Range: $25.75 - $35.09 per hour
  • The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, and internal equity.
• This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
