Job summary

ANDRITZ Separation Inc. is seeking a Welder to support service and repair work at the Las Vegas location. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines and execution of tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

The welder will weld in various positions and work with hand tools and measuring instruments, following technical drawings. Qualified candidates will have mechanical aptitude, ability to read blueprints, and experience with welding processes (MIG, TIG, Fluxcore, SMAW).

Qualifications

• Must be able to use most hand tools and have well developed mechanical aptitude.
• Rigging and handling cranes, forklifts and other lifting equipment
• Read engineering drawings and blueprints
• Basic maintenance experience troubleshooting and corrective actions
• Weld carbon steel and stainless steel (Mig, Tig, Fluxcore, SMAW)
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints

Responsibilities

• Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment and notify supervisors.

Position Summary:

The duty of Welder is to support ANDRITZ Separation Inc. on all service and repair work assigned by the Service Center Manager adhering to all Safety requirements expected both individually and shared throughout the organization. The Welder will work within the guidelines related to executing assigned task by his/her direct Supervisor.

Typical Duties:

• Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions that may involve heights
• Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Gas tungsten arc welding is a plus
• Read technical drawings in both 2D and 3D versions.
• Read and follow written and verbal instructions.

SPECIALIZED JOB SKILLS:

• Must be able to use most hand tools and have well developed mechanical aptitude.
• Capable of rigging and handle cranes, forklifts and other lifting equipment
• Must have ability to use precision measuring instruments and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Basic experience in maintenance environment to include troubleshooting, defining failure and corrective action plans during machine down situations
• Ability to Weld Carbon Steel/Stainless Steel a plus (Mig, Tig, Fluxcore, SMAW)
• Conduct Handheld Vibration analysis - past experience a plus
• Electromechanical Technology degree or trade school a plus
• PLC programming experience and knowledge (ie. AB, Siemens S7, Modicon Concept, GE Cimplicity, IFix, Wonderware) required for specific positions filled a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The physical demands of this position require the ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, and have the dexterity to bend and stoop for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist at the waist
• Must be able to climb ladders and maintain balance on catwalks and platforms.
• Make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, with reasoning and problem solving ability.
• Must be flexible on work hours and shifts

Work Environment:

• Work is approximately 90% indoors non-air conditioned 10% outdoors. Air may be extremely dusty at times. Environment can produce extreme heat and cold. Noise levels may reach decibels requiring hearing protection.
