Description
Under the general supervision of an employee in a higher grade, the Welder/Mechanic is responsible for all the metal fabrication and maintenance needs of the assigned depot. This includes but is not limited to the fabrication, maintenance and repair of heavy construction equipment and attachments; snow plowing and spreading apparatus; buildings and appurtenances; roadways, bridges, and tunnel infrastructure; roadways and bridges, and tunnels. Also, may be required to assist Mechanics in repairs on the motor equipment.
Perform other related duties as required.

Applicants must have at least four years of experience as a welder. Successful completion of an apprenticeship program overseen by a recognized certification authority may be substituted for the required experience.
Possession of a certificate in welding from a recognized trade or technical school may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
