Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Operate safety equipment and maintain a safe work area.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs to plan welding operations.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components for welding.
  • Specialize in welding thin gauge materials with extremely tight tolerances.
  • Weld using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron and other alloys.
  • Perform non-conventional welding or cutting: FCAW, Oxy-Fuel, Plasma Cutting.
  • Maintain and inspect welding equipment and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Pass and maintain welding certifications as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers to support prototype development.

Overview: As a Welder-Level III you will specialize in welding thin gauge materials that are utilized in Aerospace and FAI (First Article Inspection) parts, structural assemblies, complex weldments, any non-conventional welding or cutting with extremely tight tolerance. As a welder-level III you are trusted with the most important parts and projects, including prototype welding. Required to take client specific trainings and certifications.

Key Responsibilities: (include but not limited to): Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work order, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
  • Specialize in welding thin gauge materials, extremely tight tolerance welds, complex weldments and parts requiring extensive fixtures and weld jigs
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys
  • Perform any non-conventional welding or cutting: FCAW (flux-cored arc welding), Oxy-Fuel cutting or welding/brazing, Plasma Cutting
  • Check and maintain welding equipment for proper operation, safety and/or perform any needed maintenance.
  • Pass and Maintain various welding certifications as necessary.
  • Work with engineers and help establish a Prototype(s)
  • Perform other jobs or functions assigned by manager

Requirements

Qualifications: Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least three (3) years of welding experience.
  • Two (2) years of technical training, continued education.*May substitute an additional year of work experience for required education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Physical ability to twist, bend and stoop
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Near Vision- Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Multi-limb Coordination- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Manual Dexterity- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Trunk Strength- The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Ability to push and pull a weight up to or equal 25 pounds
  • Ability to lift and carry a weight up to or equal to 25 pounds

PREFERRED TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY:

  • Personal computers
  • Comfortable with Technology, open to learning/coachable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Warehouse and inventory systems (Made2Mange:M2M and SFM)
  • Forklift

REQUIRED WORK CLOTHING AND PPE:

  • Attire should not interfere with job performance or safety.
  • Safety glasses are provided by Athena
  • Closed toe safety shoes are required
