Summary

A Welder II is responsible for performing advanced welding tasks, joining metal parts using various techniques to create structures and components according to specifications. This role involves reading blueprints, preparing materials, ensuring the quality and safety of welded products, and mentoring junior welders.

Responsibilities
  • Follow ValvKeep and Quality Standardization Procedures for all aspects of the valve repair process.
  • Familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and able to recognize a contaminated valve.
  • Master company welding specifications and certifications.
  • Perform advanced valve repair according to company standards.
  • Operate and maintain various shop equipment (rod oven, temp probes, flow meters, PMI, etc).
  • Inspect welds for quality and accuracy, making necessary adjustments to meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Troubleshoot and repair welding equipment as needed.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior welders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines.
Positional Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • HS Education or GED equivalent.
  • Welding trade school graduate or 3-5 years’ experience as a certified welder.
Skills & Abilities
  • Meets all Welder qualifications and requirements outlined in Welder job description.
  • Successful completion of Welder Level II Written and Performance Test.
  • Advanced understanding of welding safety.
  • Demonstrates proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Proficient in welding principles and applications.
  • Demonstrate advanced flame cutting, plasma arc cutting, and gouging techniques/skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers as a representative of the company.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the field job process.
  • Demonstrated “can do” attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior welders.
Supervision
  • Moderate supervision required.
  • Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance with company driving guidelines.
  • Clear background check and drug/alcohol screening.
Essential Physical Functions
  • Lifting: up to 50 pounds.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Lift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feet.
  • Bending, stooping, walking, and climbing stairs.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Required physical ability if mandated by customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Able to hold body weight while swinging on rope during static and dynamic transfer (offshore).
  • Able to pass periodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA standards.
