Job summary

Collins Aerospace in San Marcos, TX is seeking a Welder II to perform advanced TIG welding with limited supervision, producing high-quality precision parts on 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm).

You will set up and operate automatic and manual welding equipment, read blueprints, inspect dimensions with gauges, and support furnace-related alloy and assembly tasks while adhering to safety and quality standards. Overtime and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED or technical training and 1+ year welding experience.
  • 1+ year reading blueprints, diagrams or drawings for welding tasks.
  • 1+ year use of basic hand and power tools.

The focus of this role is to perform advanced welding operations with limited supervision, ensuring precision and adherence to established manufacturing specifications and quality standards. A Welder II is expected to demonstrate proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of automatic and manual welding equipment to produce high-quality precision parts.

Working Hours: 2nd shift hours (3pm-11:30 pm) Monday -Friday

What You Will Do
  • Demonstrate proficiency in TIG welding tasks with minimal supervision to meet quality and production standards.
  • Learn and operate automatic and manual welding machines according to specifications, ensuring proper setup and calibration for the assigned work.
  • Perform cleaning operations after welding, as required, to complete the weld and maintain production quality.
  • Inspect and check dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Learn alloy and assembly operations necessary for furnace operations and integrate these processes into production tasks.
  • Operate CNC equipment as required to complete welding processes, following operational guidelines.
  • Perform non-production welds as needed and support the development of specialized welding tasks.
  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints and specification sheets to guide welding and production activities.
  • Complete production documentation with accuracy, including necessary labor transactions and quality reporting.
  • Actively support and adhere to all rules, guidelines, and standards set by Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Quality, and Continuous Improvement (CI) functions.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement processes to enhance production efficiency and safety.
  • Work extended shifts or overtime hours as required by business needs. Some holiday hours may also be required based on operational demands.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • 1 or more years of Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and/or engineering drawings to weld equipment.
  • 1 or more years of Experience with general hand and/or power tools
Qualifications We Prefer
  • 3-4 years minimum of relevant TIG welding experience highly preferred
  • Maintenance or automated welding experience preferred.
