The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is one of the largest organizations servicing Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. We manage park systems and develop recreation programs in Prince George’s County.

Within our Department of Parks & Recreation, the Facility Services Division (FSD) is the largest division, providing maintenance and support services for parks and recreation facilities. Our work areas include Fleet Management, Buildings & Structures, Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects, and Administration.

The Welding Shop section is seeking applicants for a Welder II position. The successful candidate will perform skilled welding on structures and properties, ensuring safety and quality. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, inspecting structures, estimating repairs, manufacturing and repairing steel and aluminum assemblies, and maintaining safety standards.

Additional duties involve managing inventory, operating and maintaining equipment, training and supervising other workers, ensuring safety, and complying with ADA standards. Work hours are 6:00 am – 2:45 pm. Salary ranges from $47,419 to $83,983.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Completion of an approved welding apprentice program or four years of responsible experience.
  3. Two years of journey-level experience.
  4. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years.
  5. Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that limit driving duties.
  6. Depending on assignment, a valid CDL with endorsements may be required.
  7. Pass a medical examination.
