Position Overview:

Caterpillar currently has an opening for a Welder I supporting Reman Drivetrain at our West Fargo, ND facility. The Welder I performs various types of welding and finishing operations.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Locating, identifying, and using proper fixtures and tooling for weld operations.
  2. Repairing non-standard flaws with limited or no assistance.
  3. Using blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices, and other equipment to ensure quality conformance.
  4. Setting up, adjusting, and performing operations with close tolerance and finish requirements on standardized parts.
  5. Conducting pre- and post-inspections on all welded parts.
  6. Planning and making difficult or new setups with necessary equipment.
  7. Assisting team members with technical issues and production problems.
  8. Developing work instructions.
  9. Performing preventive maintenance as required.
  10. Identifying issues and initiating corrective actions.
  11. Performing 5S and safety stop audits.
  12. Participating in CI/PID processes.
  13. Supporting cross-training and other shop tasks as assigned.
  14. Following Caterpillar Production System (CPS) Standard Work Sheets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Use of keyboard, reaching, lifting, and filing documents.
  • Performing repetitive motions safely.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Visual and hearing abilities for safe job execution.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly pay range: $24.33 - $30.97 (negotiable based on skills/experience).
  • Additional 7% night shift premium for 2nd shift.
  • Work hours: 4:15PM - 2:45AM, Monday-Thursday, with occasional overtime on Fridays.
  • Paid weekly.
  • $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid after 90 and 180 days based on performance and attendance.
  • 40-hour work week with potential overtime.
