Job summary

AdvanSix is seeking an experienced welder in Virginia to assemble and weld metal components for piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes. The role requires performing welding in multiple positions and fabricating repair panels as needed.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, and possess a Journeyman welder license or completed an approved apprenticeship, with at least 5 years of industrial welding experience. OSHA knowledge is preferred and safety is emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Bolt, clamp and weld metal components using arc welding equipment.

• Remove, fabricate and weld in fixed equipment repair panels.
• Perform welding repairs to boiler and exchanger tubes and tube sheets.
• Plan layouts and apply welding knowledge to32 geometry and metal properties.

Responsibilities

• Within capabilities, bolting, clamping and welding together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment
• May be welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position
• Removing, fabricating and welding in fixed equipment repair panels
• Within capabilities, performs welding repairs to boiler and exchanger tubes and tube sheets
• Within capabilities, selecting equipment and plan guying layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, weld shrinkage and welding techniques

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Licensed Journeyman-level welder or successful completion of state certified apprenticeship program or equivalent relative craft
• 5 years industrial experience
• 5 yrs Experience in welding

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of the tools, principles, methods, and techniques used in the pipefitting and welding trades
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to comply with OSHA procedures
• Ability to performing minor rigging and signaling of cranes
• Ability to operate and maintain grinding equipment
• Ability to fabricate and roll plate
• Ability to read and interpret structural and isometric drawings
• Ability to perform basic math computations
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

The hourly rate for this position is $44.44
