Job description

Part of Dover Corporation’s Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a global leader in the vehicle service industry, comprising 13 major brands including Rotary Lift, Chief, Forward, and others.

SUMMARY

This role involves performing general structural welding using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) semi-automatic and automatic equipment. Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) may also be required. The position may involve work on various equipment in the plant and other classifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environment is a warehouse/manufacturing setting. PPE is mandatory at all times, including steel-toed shoes with metatarsal guards, eye, and ear protection. Work is mainly indoors and non-climate controlled, with some outside exposure.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly, at least twice daily.
  2. Set up equipment, including positioning fixtures, adjusting welding parameters, loading wire, and checking quality.
  3. Load and unload fixtures and use hoists as needed.
  4. Supervise helpers when necessary.
  5. Remove slag, position parts, record production, and perform preventive maintenance.
  6. Ensure safety and cleanliness of the work area.

GENERAL SUMMARY

  1. Follow work instructions and perform welding with minimal supervision.
  2. Set up and operate welding machines, adjust for optimal quality.
  3. Inspect and test completed work, assist new operators, and maintain equipment.
  4. Read blueprints, measure, and ensure tolerances.

Job Specifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass aptitude and basic math tests.
  • 3+ years’ welding and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must pass welding coupon tests in specified wire sizes and positions.
