Job summary

TOPS Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter in Ambridge, PA to join our team building heavy-duty equipment. You will work on custom fabrications such as trailers, transfer cars, hoppers, lift tables, and more from prints from start to finish.

Ideal candidates have MIG welding experience in a fabrication setting, can read blueprints, and fit and weld structural components to spec. Expect steady days and a role that grows with your hands-on skills in a shop environment.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience in a fabrication or structural environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and measurements.
• Proven ability to lay out, fit, tack, and weld structural components to spec.
• Experience fabricating/assembling components such as frames, platforms, supports, and hoppers.
• Strong measuring, layout, and basic shop math skills.
• Ability to produce clean, structurally sound welds (penetration, appearance, strength, accuracy).
• Comfortable using common fab tools: tape measures, squares, levels, grinders, saws, clamps, etc.
• Ability to set up welding equipment and select correct settings for the application.
• Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently while contributing to a small team.

Responsibilities

Position: Welder / Fitter Pay: $25 – $31hr+ based on previous experience Schedule: Monday – Friday: Steady dayshift Location: Ambridge, PA

TOPS Staffing is hiring an experienced Welder/Fitter for a well-established industrial equipment manufacturer in Ambridge, PA. This is not repetitive production welding. This role is for someone who takes pride in custom fabrication and wants to see projects built from start to finish. You’ll help create heavy-duty material handling equipment like industrial trailers, transfer cars, hoppers, lift tables, turntables, and other large fabricated products. Every build is different, so if you enjoy variety, problem-solving, and working off prints, this is a strong long-term opportunity.

Required Skills

• MIG welding experience in a fabrication or structural environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and measurements

Nice to Have Skills

• Flux-core welding experience
• Structural welding background
• Mechanical assembly and/or equipment installation experience
• Strong troubleshooting ability and comfort communicating fabrication issues to supervisors/engineering

Preferred Experience

• Prior hands-on experience in metal fabrication and welding (custom or large-component work preferred)
• Demonstrated experience fitting and assembling large or custom-fabricated components

Other Requirements

• Ability to pass a hands-on weld test
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in varied positions throughout the shift
• Ability to lift/move materials up to 50lbs
• Comfortable working around heavy steel, sparks, heat, and typical fabrication-shop conditions
• Able to wear required PPE and follow all security and quality standards
