Job summary

Formtek, Inc. in Twinsburg, Ohio, is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to join our metal machinery team. You will weld and join components, read blueprints, and inspect parts to ensure accuracy and quality.

This full-time role requires MIG/TIG/Stick welding, precise measurement with micrometers and calipers, and adherence to safety protocols while operating tools and equipment on site. You will work in a collaborative shop environment focused on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• 5 years of in-depth knowledge welding and fabricating metal machinery.
• Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to calculate fractions and decimals conversions when needed.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with some hydraulics and pneumatics familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Weld and join materials to create structures and machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specs, and blueprints.
• Inspect metal parts and set up components using jigs, clamps and fixtures.
• Weld in vertical, horizontal and overhead positions; monitor quality.
• Operate torches and welding tools; ensure accurate seams and fills.
• Maintain PPE and follow safety regulations in a busy shop environment.
• Use hand and power tools (saws, grinders, drills, welders, cranes, forklifts).
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and cooperate with teammates.

JOB SUMMARY

• Welding and joining materials together, cutting and shaping metal pieces using specialized torches and welding tools to create structures, products and machinery.
• Have working knowledge of MIG, TIG and stick welding processes.
• Read and understand technical drawings, specifications and blueprints to understand project requirements and dimensions.
• Inspect metal for quality, select the appropriate tools and methods, and set up metal parts according to the design using jigs, clamps and fixtures.
• Fit-up and weld in vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.
• Use torches, electric arcs and other welding implements to fuse, join and fill seams or holes in metal.
• Monitor the welding process and inspect the finished work to assess quality, identifying any flaws or defects.
• Maintain a clean working environment to ensure all items are in good working order.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations, and consistently use personal protective equipment ( PPE) at all times.
• Properly operate a wide range of hand and power tools including, but not limited to, saws, grinders, drills, welders, overhead cranes lifts and forklifts.
• Maintain a good working attitude and cooperate with peers in a positive spirit of teamwork.
