SUMMARY :

Successful applicants will conduct metal (primarily steel) fabrication and welding daily. Successful applicant will be responsible for various types of structural welding, including preparation, welding, and finishing operations. Applicant must be able to read, interpret, and understand detail design prints. Successful applicants must be good physical condition and able work in a steel fabrication shop environment daily. Successful applicant must be a team player, able to easily interact with others, have a solid work ethic. Successful applicant may be required to work at remote job sites on occasion in rock or asphalt quarries or other industrial job sites and therefore must be able to successfully interact with end customers, follow safety procedures and policies, and be willing possible long hours during the day to complete jobs in timely manner so as to get our end customers back operational.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Works directly with plant manager, shop supervisor, customer, drafter, and peers to produce finished products
• Proficient in modern welding techniques and equipment
• Good working knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys and aluminum .
• Problem analysis and resolution
• Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
• Responds effectively to questions and inquiries concerning assembly and welding
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, welding practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete assembly and welding
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Must be familiar with product assembly and application
• Must have working knowledge welding shop operations
• Position requires that successful applicant be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently but also performs well within teams or work groups
• Must have strong oral communication skills
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
• Successful applicant will be safety conscious and have good housekeeping practices
• Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Even though the shop has overhead heaters, the shop environment is often cold or hot depending upon the outside environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

For the plant to be successful, it is essential that employees come to work as scheduled and have good attendance.
