Job summary

GEA Group in the United States seeks a Senior Manager, Process & Project Engineering to lead complex welding, fabrication, and equipment installation initiatives. You will align engineering activities with customer specs, safety standards, and project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong TIG welding skills on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Experience reading blueprints, weld symbols, and tolerances.
  • Solid fit-up and fabrication skills (measuring, cutting, grinding, assembling).
  • Understanding of weld quality standards and ability to produce consistent, clean welds.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Welding:Perform complex welds on materials like stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.

Fabrication:Construct metal components and structures following detailed blueprints and technical drawings.

Equipment Operation:Operate and maintain advanced welding equipment and plasma cutters.

Quality Assurance:Inspect welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet specifications and resolve any defects.

Project Management:Prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines, maintaining both quality and efficiency.

Must-Have Experience (Required)

Core skills needed to perform the job effectively from day one:

  • Strong TIG (GTAW) welding, especially on stainless steel, 3-5 years experience preferred
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
  • Experience with stainless steel fabrication, including heat control and contamination prevention
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, weld symbols, and tolerances
  • Solid fit-up and fabrication skills (measuring, cutting, grinding, assembling)
  • Understanding of weld quality standards and ability to produce consistent, clean welds
  • Knowledge of shop safety practices and PPE
  • Reliable work ethic with ability to meet production expectations
Nice-to-Have Experience (Preferred)

Additional skills that enhance value but aren’t required:

  • Sanitary/food-grade welding and knowledge of hygienic standards (e.g., 3-A)
  • AWS certifications or prior weld test qualifications
  • Advanced skills like orbital welding or thin-gauge stainless work
  • Basic familiarity with NDT methods (RT, PT, VT)
  • Experience using advanced fabrication equipment (CNC, press brakes, rollers)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, assist with layout, or work from limited drawings
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing environments focused on efficiency

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $29 - $33 per hour GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
