Job summary

Holtger Bros., Inc in De Pere, WI is seeking a skilled Welder for our Fleet Maintenance Shop. The role focuses on welding in a shop environment, fabricating parts and repairing equipment with wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding techniques.

You will work with mechanics, follow patterns, and operate a drill press, plasma cutter, torch, and other shop tools. The job requires the ability to work day shifts, lift up to 50 pounds, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

WELDER

This position is in the shop and requires general mechanical knowledge with previous experience in wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding. This position is responsible for performing all welding activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Fabrication of equipment and parts.
• Welding, hard surfacing, and repairing equipment and parts.
• Assist mechanics in other tasks for repair.

QUALIFICATIONS

• General mechanical knowledge.
• Previous welding experience (wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding).

REQUIRED ABILITIES

• The ability to follow and read patterns.
• Must be able to work with people and alone at times.
• Must keep work area clean.
• Must be able to use a drill press, welders, torch, and plasma cutter.
• Must have knowledge of steel.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE

• Exposure to loud noises.
• Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and gases.
• Exposure to ceramic, fiberglass, and/or Rockwool insulations.
• May be exposed to outside work in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to volatile organic compounds (ie. alcohol, paint spray, naptha, etc.).
• May be exposed to confined spaces.
• Work indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must have efficient hand-eye coordination.
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work long periods of time including nights and weekends.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Backup mechanics in additional shop work outside of welding.
