Job summary

Berkel & Co in Bonner Springs, KS is seeking a skilled welder to fabricate and weld components per drawings, delivering safe, quality welds under supervision.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of welding experience.
• AWS D1.1 certification a plus.
• Ability to fabricate per drawings and produce quality welds.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate per drawing the various weldments needed for standard and non-standard production.
• Perform welding from start to finish without instructions, except for unusual circumstances.
• Set up and operate burning, grinding, sawing, tapping, and drilling operations.
• Complete deburring of parts after welding.
• Assist other crew members and maintain shop housekeeping when not welding.

Job description

The general purpose of the welder is primarily to be responsible for the adequate and safe welding of components used in the daily production of piling equipment and accessories. Work is completed under the direction and/or guidance of the superintendent, keyman/foreman, and/or shop supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate, per drawing, the various weldments needed for standard and non-standard production.
• Performing, in an expert manner, any welding job from start to finish (including welding, layout, fixturing, drilling, and tapping) without instructions or assistance - except for unusual circumstances.
• Perform set up and operation of burning, grinding, sawing, tapping, and drilling operations.
• Complete deburring of parts after welding.

Additional Responsibilities When Not Welding:

The following additional responsibilities of the welder may be assigned by the superintendent, shop supervisor, or keyman/foreman when conditions warrant.

• Assist the other crew members or shop personnel in performing their duties as directed by the superintendent, shop supervisor, and/or keyman/foreman.
• Housekeeping is always a major concern, not only on the construction site but in the shop/warehouse. When conditions are such that the welder is not actively involved in welding activities, the superintendent, shop supervisor, and/or keyman/foreman may require the welder to walk around the jobsite or shop and concentrate on housekeeping by picking up trash.
