Trident Maritime Systems is seeking a skilled Production Welder (Shop) – Class B to support fabrication operations in a controlled shop environment. This role focuses on table‑top welding and repeat production work, requiring consistent weld quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in shop‑based welding and the ability to perform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding with limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years welding experience in a shop/fabrication environment.
  • Two welding certifications are required: FCAW and GMAW.
  • Able to perform multi-pass welds and finish to tight tolerances.
  • Must pass MIL-SPEC / NAVSEA welding tests as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform FCAW and GMAW welding on mild steel components in a shop environment.
  • Execute table‑top fabrication and welding in a controlled production setting.
  • Produce consistent, high‑quality welds with attention to bead profile and appearance.
  • Perform multi‑pass welds with proper bead placement and sequencing.
  • Maintain first‑time quality and minimize rework.
  • Grind, clean, and finish welds to meet production and quality standards.
  • Follow work instructions, blueprints, and supervisor direction as required.
  • Maintain productivity to meet daily and weekly production goals.
  • Assist with basic fit‑up tasks when required to support workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Position Summary

Trident Maritime Systems is seeking a skilled Production Welder (Shop) – Class B to support fabrication operations in a controlled shop environment. This role focuses on table‑top welding and repeat production work, requiring consistent weld quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in shop‑based welding and the ability to perform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding with limited supervision. This position requires the ability to produce quality welds, perform multi‑pass welding operations, and maintain production standards with minimal rework. This role is suited for individuals who are dependable, production‑focused, and capable of maintaining consistent output while continuing to develop advanced welding skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding on mild steel components in a shop environment
  • Execute table‑top fabrication and welding in a controlled production setting

  • Perform multi‑pass welds with proper bead placement and sequencing

  • Maintain productivity levels to meet daily and weekly production goals
  • Assist with basic fit‑up tasks when required to support workflow

  • Comply with all company safety, quality, and operational procedures
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience
  • Minimum 2 years of shop‑based welding experience (fabrication shop preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) welding certifications required, including FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG)
  • Additional welding certifications (up to four total) are preferred
  • Experience with FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes required
  • Ability to produce consistent weld quality with limited supervision
  • Experience performing multi‑pass welds with proper technique and bead control
  • Ability to perform grinding and finishing work to meet quality expectations
  • Must be able to pass company‑required welding tests (MIL‑SPEC / NAVSEA standards as applicable)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a production‑focused environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
Preferred
  • Basic fit‑up knowledge and ability to assist with fabrication tasks
  • Experience with stainless steel or copper‑nickel MIG welding
  • Exposure to TIG welding (limited application)
  • Previous experience in a production fabrication shop environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a controlled shop environment (not field or shipboard work)
  • Welding is primarily performed at tables and fixtures (table‑top welding) in seated or standing positions
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to perform repetitive welding tasks in consistent and varying work positions throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. as required
  • Must be able to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, and related tools
  • Exposure to typical shop conditions including noise, heat, and welding fumes
Physical Demands
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
  • Perform prolonged standing.
  • Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.
  • Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.
  • Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding.)
  • Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead).
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check
  • Must comply with all company safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet production demands
  • Must consistently demonstrate high levels of reliability, productivity, and craftsmanship in a production environment
  • Must be willing to support team development, assist less experienced welders, and promote quality and efficiency standards within the shop
Liaisons With

Trade Supervisors, Foremen, and Managers when needed.

Safety

Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.
