Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is an assistant position that will help develop the knowledge of various welding techniques and perform the duties in changing environments. This position has the potential to progress into a full time Welder role.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in cutting with an oxygen acetylene torch
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in using a plasma cutter on various types of metal
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in stick welding (overhead, vertical, and flat)
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in MiG welding (overhead, vertical, and flat)
  • Be willing and have the ability to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces safely
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in air arc cutting.
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills in grinding, using cut off wheels, and operating a band saw.
  • Be willing to assist and develop skills using a pipe threader (up to 3 inches) and using a pipe wrench and various types of fittings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders
  • Required from time to time to perform tasks at high heights safely

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be available to work flexible schedules (nights/weekends - required at times)
  • Must have an acceptable driving record
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
