Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas is seeking a Welder/Assembler I to join our manufacturing team in Orlando. The role involves welding, blending, and metal fabrication with various processes, reading drawings and work instructions, and supporting turbine and combustion component assembly in a fast-paced shop environment.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math skills, and the ability to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of related experience or training.
  • Pass qualification testing per AWS D17.1 and receive acceptance from a Mitsubishi Power Level III Inspector.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos and work documentation.
  • Ability to prepare simple written communications and effectively present information in individual or small-group settings.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics including fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages and graph interpretation.
  • Ability to apply common-sense reasoning and solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, talk and hear throughout the workday and frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environments with potential chemical exposure, elevated noise levels and required PPE usage.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed to support customer and business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret and perform operations according to drawings and work instructions.
  • Operate welding, blending, stress relief and metal fabrication equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Perform TPMs and basic equipment maintenance activities.
  • Install accessories on components, turbine components and combustion components per work instructions.
  • Perform minor turbine and combustion repairs (Class A to Class B).
  • Understand penetrant inspection methods including red-dye and fluorescent penetrant processes.
  • Demonstrate capability to learn and train others on preheat/post-heat equipment and TIG/MIG welding techniques.
  • Comply with all safety policies and proactively report unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in team efforts, communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality, honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview

Operate without supervision welding, blending, stress relief, cutting and metal fabrication equipment including Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG), Metal Inert Gas (MIG), oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting systems. Read and interpret drawings and work instructions while supporting turbine and combustion component assembly, repair and manufacturing activities in a fast-paced environment.
