Job summary

AKG North America in Mitchell, SD is seeking a Welder-Soldador for the 3rd shift (10 PM–6 AM). You will operate welding equipment to weld tanks and attach parts to cores according to blueprints, supporting the production line.

The ideal candidate has formal welding training or an apprenticeship, and can read detailed work orders and blueprints. Safety, quality, and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

We’re looking for someone who:

• Read and understand detailed work order instructions and blueprints.
• Move the core into and out of the welding booth, using a chain hoist if needed, and place it on the turntable or skid when welding is completed.
• Match the correct tanks to each side of the core based on blueprint instructions.
• Tack each corner of the core and use a hammer to position the tanks properly.
• Operate welding equipment using a hand trigger to control current/voltage and perform standard welding tasks.
• Weld additional components onto the core when required by blueprint instructions.
• Use the appropriate welding rod to weld all sides of the core and complete the wash-down process on each corner.
• Document and stamp the cooler once the welding process is finished.
• Meet production quotas set by the Lead or Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Report any issues to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel as soon as they are identified.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and requirements outlined in AKG’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Maintain regular physical attendance as required for this position, following AKG attendance policy in the Employee Handbook.

Funciones esenciales

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stand (95%) and walk (5%) of the time. May also be required to bend, stoop, pull, push, twist, and turn.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (100%) of the time.
• Must be able to use a pallet jack, chain hoist, wire barrel, and welding equipment.
• Must use safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, welding jacket, welding helmet, and gloves. All of these are provided by AKG, except for the steel toe shoes.
