Job summary

Engineered Cabs in Watertown, SD is seeking an experienced welder to assemble roll over/fall over protective structures. You will weld according to blueprints, perform full-penetration welds, and help train new welders.

Requires high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years welding experience, 6GR certification, and Crenlo safety training. This is a full-time, eight-to-twelve hour shift environment focused on safety, quality, and skill growth.

  • Successful completion of Crenlo Engineered Cabs weld training with 6GR certification.
  • Crenlo basic safety training required.
  • 3–5 years welding experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations current.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, position, and weld fabricated components per blueprints.
  • Lays out, positions, bolts, clamp, and tack-weld parts in fixtures.
  • Set up and adjust equipment and parts per blueprints and guidelines.
  • Perform welds including full-penetration and sheet metal welds.
  • Mentor new welders and assist in training.
  • Maintain safety, production quality, and conduct periodic quality checks.
  • Support Hi-Deposition improvements and weld procedure updates.

SUMMARY:
Plans, positions, and welds fabricated and cast components on roll over/fall over protective structures, and specialized weldments. Performs work primarily on ROPS/FOPS structure welds completing all required welds, including sheet metal welds. Utilizes full-penetration, high critical joint welds without a backing material. Welds on all thickness, all joint types, and all positions. Assist in training requirements for all weld classifications and completion of required reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produces a product to customer quality standards in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Lays out, positions, bolts, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure into position within fixture for welding.
  • Sets up and makes adjustments to equipment and parts per blueprints.
  • Performs welding responsibilities on product outlined in Blueprints; OPI's, Quality Manual, or any additional performance guidelines.
  • Grinds excess weld, sharp corners, or sharp protrusions using a portable pneumatic grinder.
  • Makes periodic quality checks as required and inspects finished product for completeness.
  • Aide in completion of 6GR testing for Weld 3 classification of new candidates
  • Utilized as weld training contact for weld lines and provides mentoring to new welders
  • Participates in Hi-Deposition Improvement Planning -- modification of weld procedures to increase safety, efficiency, and quality
  • Assist in tracking recertification of welders on a monthly basis with follow-up to weld trainer
  • Other duties as assigned
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Required to obtain weld certification to AWS/ANSI standards.
  • Basic knowledge of welding procedures,
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints, work order instructions; weld symbols, and operate required tools involved in position.
  • Good problem-solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality.
  • Ability to convert standard units of measure to metric and metric to standard in addition to basic math skills.
  • Able to consistently maintain production averages at or above the expected standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Crenlo Engineered Cabs weld training program requirements, including 6GR certification
  • Crenlo basic safety training
  • 3 to 5 years weld experience
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies and best practices in areas of responsibilities.

Note: If a Weld 2 classified welder has not completed Weld 2 job duties within 6 months, welder must complete Weld 2 re-certification prior to performing Weld 2 job responsibilities.

  • Work Hours/Status: Varies depending on Shift- Regular Full-Time shifts range from 8-12 hours.
