Job summary

Electronic Theatre Controls in Middleton, WI is seeking a 2nd Shift Welder with a technical welding diploma and strong mechanical aptitude to join our team. You will set up MIG/TIG/spot welders, fabricate parts to print specs, and work both independently and with others to meet production goals.

This role requires safety-conscious operators who can read blueprints, use precision tools, and maintain quality through careful welding, grinding, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Formal one-year technical welding diploma or 1–2 years welding experience.
• Knowledge of metalwork theory and blueprints.
• Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Job description

ETC is searching for a 2nd Shift Welder to join our team in our Middleton, WI office! Our ideal candidate will have a technical diploma in welding, great mechanical aptitude, knowledge of welding techniques, and the ability to work independently and in a team. This position is Monday - Thursday which means that you will have a 3-day weekend every week!

Representative Responsibilities

• Fabricates, welds, and grinds parts to standards and specifications
• Plans procedures and selects tools and materials to follow work order to completion
• Sets-up welders for MIG, TIG, and Spot welder appropriately
• Fabricates product by cutting and welding metals
• Ensures parts are fabricated to print specifications
• Maintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduled
• Completes paperwork correctly, labels parts per order and forwards the product to the next station
• Follows production priorities
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions irregularities, and continuing needs
• Ensures product quality meets standards by frequently checking work
• Ensures quality meets standards by checking measurement and parts are welded to meet the correct orientation
• Selects the appropriate welding application and performs visual quality checks to ensure welding reflects correct penetration
• Applies specified finish through use of proper grinding techniques.
• Follows ISO procedures
• Uses appropriate documentation, e.g., ECRs and NCMRs, to identify and communicate issues
• Adheres to safety standards at all times
• Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
• Abides by safety procedures, work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
• Wears personal protective equipment when required
• Informs management of any safety concerns when they arise
• Learns new tasks, procedures and assemblies as needed
• Listens to, understands and follow instructions while learning new assignmentsRecognizes unusual circumstances and asks intelligent questions when necessary
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment
• Ensures after task is completed, floor is swept and tools are returned to designated area
• Maintains tools regularly
• Ensures that machines are cleaned and maintained as scheduled
• Informs manager or team lead of supply needs
• Shuts welder and gas off at the end of each shift
• Completes special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
• Formal one year technical diploma in welding or minimum of one to two years of production welding experience
• Knowledge of metalwork theory
• Knowledge of various welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Spot) and able to adjust equipment to its proper setting
• Strong welding skills
• Knowledge of finish grinding with various types of grinders
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids
• Good organizational skills
• Good math skills
• Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.
• Proven ability to understand instructions and follow directions
• Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools
• Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed
• Demonstrated ability to effectively implement and respond to change
• Able to work at a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective equipment
• Able to lift, carry, push and or pull up to 50 lbs. frequently
• Able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Able to Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently
• Able to read blueprints
