Job summary

Alamo Group Ag Americas, LLC in Selma, Alabama is seeking an experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on welding non-critical parts and subassemblies according to blueprints and welding procedures.

You will operate MIG welding equipment, maintain quality, and support safety and production goals in a non-climate controlled plant. Requires a High School diploma or GED and 3 months to 1 year of welding experience; relocation assistance may be available.

• Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Focus on safety and contribute to safety in all aspects of the job and meetings.
• Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies.
• Loads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures and prepares surfaces for welding.
• Maintains welding equipment and makes adjustments when changing parts.
• Loads and unloads fixtures and performs simple measurements using gauges.
• May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

The Welder is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Welder, u nder direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, welds non-critical fabricated parts and subassemblies as specified by blueprints, layouts or welding procedures. Welds are performed on non-critical parts or subassemblies where cosmetics may not be a factor.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings
• Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts welded
• Loads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examines welds for adherence to blueprint specifications
• Maintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the other
• Loads and unloads fixtures
• Performs simple measurements using devices or gauges to check work
• May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

• Ability to understand and follow simple instructions
• Capable of performing standard measurements
• Knowledge of basic procedures of mig welding required
• Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassemblies
• Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Minimum 3 months to 1 year experience in welding required

While performing the duties of this job, will be exposed to a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant. Must be able to stand approximately 8 hours per day. Must be able to stoop, lift and reach around on a constant basis. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended amount of time.
