Job summary

Alamo Group Ag Americas, LLC, recruiting for a Welder in Selma, Alabama, seeks an individual to lay out, fit and MIG-weld fabricated steel frames for multiple product lines. The role requires basic welding knowledge, blueprint literacy and strong attention to safety.

The Welder II will set up parts, perform welds, inspect quality and operate with minimal supervision while supporting production and relocation needs in a non-climate-controlled plant.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year welding experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications.
• Knowledge of MIG welding procedures and safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs alone and 100 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to train others and follow simple instructions.
• Understanding of voltage and amp requirements for welds.

Responsibilities

• Operate MIG welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies.
• Set up and load parts into jigs and fixtures; prepare surfaces for welding.
• Visually inspect welds for adherence to blueprints and quality standards.
• Maintain welding equipment and adjust settings for different parts.
• Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean.
• Support multiple product lines per blue print specifications.

Job description

Bush Hog is one of the most recognized and successful names in the Agricultural Market. The Welder II is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Welder II, u nder direct supervision by Team Leader or Supervisor, layouts, fits and welds fabricated steel frames and/or metal for one to two product lines using mig welding equipment. Performs welds on parts or subassemblies. Verifies the welds meet all quality standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings.
• Works safely in all aspects of daily duties and assignments with safe work procedures and practice good housekeeping to ensure safety of him/herself and others.
• Adjusts and operates welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies. Maintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts welded.
• Set up and loads fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures. Prepares the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed. Visually examines welds for adherence to blueprint specifications.
• Maintains welding equipment and makes adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the other.
• Loads and unloads fixtures. Performs simple measurements using devices or gauges to check work.
• May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders.
• Set-up, adjusts and operates welding equipment to spot or seam weld parts and subassemblies for 3 or more product lines in accordance with blue print specifications. Works from oral or written instructions with little to no supervision.
• Perform all duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

• Ability to understand and follow simple instructions.
• Capable of performing standard measurements.
• Knowledge of basic procedures of mig welding required.
• Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassemblies.
• Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications.
• Ability to effectively train others.
• Knowledge of basic procedure of voltage and amp for given requirements.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in welding required.

While performing the duties of this job, will be exposed to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing plant. Must be able to stand approximately 8 hours per day. Must be able to stoop, lift and reach around on a constant basis. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended amount of time.
