Job summary

Aebi Schmidt in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Welder to assemble, weld, and fabricate metal components using a pulse MIG welder. You will read blueprints, set up equipment, use hand tools, and produce quality welds with minimal supervision in a busy shop.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, operating cranes and hoists, and complying with safety protocols and PPE. You will troubleshoot shop-floor issues with supervision, move finished parts with a forklift if trained, and

  • MIG welding experience required; pulse welding experience preferred.
  • Prior fabrication background preferred.

  • Read and understand engineering drawings in English.

Job description

Position description

A Welder is responsible for assembling, securing and welding metal parts using a pulse MIG welder, operating overhead hoists or cranes, and using hand tools appropriate for the job. They read and interpret complex blueprints, fabricate and weld metal components according to specifications with little supervision, and apply appropriate welding techniques to produce quality welds.

Responsibilities
  • Follow blueprints to create quality products.
  • Troubleshoot issues on the shop floor and confer with supervisors and production personnel to resolve problems, keeping projects moving forward for the best outcome.
  • Prepare products to be welded by reading blueprints and utilizing fixturing.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good repair, properly set up, and used in a safe manner with all safety devices and mandatory PPE in use.
  • Identify and move finished products to the proper location within the shop using a forklift, if trained.
  • Operate manual wire feed welders and automatic welders while using appropriate welding wire, heat, arc, speed, depth, and weld bead size.
  • Weld proficiently in all positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead, and down.
  • Perform inspections as required by standards.
Qualifications
  • MIG welding experience required. Pulse welding experience preferred.
  • Prior fabrication background preferred.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs without assistance from various positions.
  • Ability to use cranes and hoists.
  • Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
