Job summary

MiTek in Tolleson, AZ is seeking a Welder to perform MIG welding and fabrication of Hardy Frame structural steel panels per engineering drawings and standards.

You will read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and maintain dimensional tolerances while producing high‑quality components with a strong safety focus. Regular attendance and reliability are essential as overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years MIG welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding of panels and structural steel components to drawings and specs.

  • Weld and fabricate 10‑gage, 12‑gage components within tolerances.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for performing MIG welding and fabrication of Hardy Frame structural steel panels and components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, work with dimensional tolerances, inspect completed welds, and safely produce high‑quality products that meet customer requirements. Accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards are critical to this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG welding of Hardy Frame panels and structural steel components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, work orders, and fabrication specifications.
  • Weld and fabricate 10‑gauge, 12‑gauge, and other structural steel components while maintaining required dimensional tolerances.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, penetration, fit‑up, appearance, and conformance to specifications.
  • Verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, angle gauges, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Identify and report quality concerns and assist in corrective actions and rework activities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly utilize required PPE.
  • Meet established safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the position, including arriving on time, being present at the workstation at the start of the shift, and working overtime as required.

Skills & Abilities
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of MIG welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience welding structural steel products and assemblies preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications required.
  • Experience working with dimensional tolerances and quality inspection procedures preferred.
Language Skills
  • Effectively communicate with co‑workers and management regarding production, quality, and safety issues.
Mathematical Skills
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Calculate and verify dimensions, measurements, angles, and tolerances.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply practical problem‑solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Interpret written, verbal, diagram, and drawing‑based instructions.
  • Troubleshoot welding issues.
Computer Skills
  • PC skills required.
Certificates & Licenses

Welding certification preferred but not required. Forklift certification is preferred or ability to obtain certification within established training requirements.

Other Skills and Abilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
  • Use tape measures, calipers, squares, angle gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
