Base pay range

Job Title: Welder 1 or 2 (based on internal weld test and assessment)

Location: Winsted, MN

Shift Schedule
  • 1st shift Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm (Shift Differential: N/A)
  • 2nd shift Monday – Thursday 3pm – 1am (Shift Differential: $1.50/hour)
  • Weekend shift Friday – Sunday 5am – 5pm (Shift Differential: $2.50/hour)
Responsibilities
Welder 1
  • Perform the following GMAW welds: butt, V, single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel
  • Perform MIG welding tasks to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements
  • Produce welds that pass visual inspection
  • Demonstrate the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 diameter wire and/or .062 diameter wire
  • Be proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges
  • Read and understand MMC’s WPSs – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS parameters
  • Layout and tack to specifications
  • Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed
  • Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products
  • Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes
  • Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence
  • Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation
  • Enter job data in production tracking system
  • Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required
  • Must be AWS GMAW certified
    • Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certifications within 14 days of employment
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
Welder 2

Includes all Welder 1 responsibilities.

  • Can perform necessary repairs that adhere to Millerbernd’s Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements
  • Can perform welds using following wire – solid, flux core, and metal core as needed
  • Can weld carbon, stainless steel as needed
  • Perform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removed
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required
  • Welders employed with Circular Products-Sauk Rapids location are required to obtain and maintain ASME certification requirements
Qualifications
Welder 1 Qualifications
  • Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory
  • MIG Welding experience is preferred
  • Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered
  • Proficient in welding techniques on flat, vertical and rotating planes
  • Operational knowledge of Electric Plasma and Acetylene Torch
  • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
  • Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed
  • Ability to operate various power and hand tools
  • Knowledge of weld positioners, turners, fixtures and equipment
  • Accurately use tape measure and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to perform basic shop math functions
  • Ability to electronically record production information
  • Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
Welder 2 Qualifications
  • In addition to the Welder 1 qualifications:
    • Preferred candidates will have 3 years’ experience in metal fabrication/welding experience
    • Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures
