Job summary

City of Shakopee, MN is seeking a Welder to join our team on the Weekend shift at the Shakopee location. This position offers opportunities for growth, competitive pay, and benefits. You will weld production parts and prototype components using TIG and MIG, set up fixtures, and ensure welding qualifications meet product requirements.

Requirements include 3 years of welding experience with a HS diploma or GED (or 1 year with a Welding certificate). Salary is $60,000–$70,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Three years welding experience and HS diploma or GED, or one year welding experience with a Welding certificate.
• Must obtain and maintain applicable company welding certifications.
• Stand for 80% of the shift and lift up to 25 pounds when needed.
• Communicate in English without an interpreter.

Responsibilities

• Welds production and prototype parts in various materials using TIG and/or MIG.
• May operate program welding machine and assist with higher volume production as needed.
• Welding must pass testing per certification requirements and qualifications must be maintained.
• Set up fixtures and lay out work for production and prototype parts.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Welds production and less difficult prototype instrumentation piece parts in various materials including stainless steel, precious and semi-precious metals using various types of welding processes which may include TIG and/or MIG.
• May operate program welding machine to weld production units and also assist machine welding operator in program welding higher volume production units when work load requires it.
• Welds must pass destructive and non-destructive testing based on certification requirements per individual product.
• Must maintain individual welding qualification and certification per product requirements.
• Sets up fixtures and lays out work for production and prototype piece parts.
• Performs work of a miscellaneous nature as required.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Three (3) years of welding experience and a High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED), OR
• One (1) year of welding experience and verified completion of a Welding certificate program
• Must obtain and maintain applicable company welding certifications.
• Solid work history showing record of dependability
• Must be 18 years of age
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Positions are contingent upon the passing a pre‑employment screening

The salary range for this role is $60,000-70,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.

Work Schedule: Friday-Sunday, 5:30 AM - 6:00 PM
